I study data science at the University of Salzburg, with a focus on reinforcement learning, and work as a junior researcher in Information Technologies at FH Salzburg.
What draws me to reinforcement learning is not games but measurement. A model of a physical system is only as good as the data you gathered to fit it, and gathering that data is expensive — every experiment costs machine time. My master’s thesis asks whether an agent can learn to choose those experiments well: not a fixed excitation signal decided in advance, but a policy that adapts as it learns what it still does not know about the system. That puts optimal experiment design and system identification in the same loop.
I do this work alongside the IDA Lab and Simon Hirländer, and within the ISIA project at FH Salzburg.
Outside research I build things that are useful to somebody specific: a tracker for a handball team, a game that makes art history stick. Both are listed under Projects.
